Amarenco reached 500MW of commissioned solar power assets

Amarenco reaches the milestone of half a gigawatt of installed electric power in Europe in less than four years, and aims to achieve one gigawatt within two years.

Alain Desvigne, CEO of Amarenco : « These 500 MW are a great milestone, but I would also like to take this opportunity to highlight the significant growth of our entire customer portfolio (communities, industries, farmers… for whom we imagine and build solutions tailored to their needs and ambitions). Besides these 500 MW in service, we have 250 MW currently under construction, 350 MW ready to build, and 2,700 MW in advanced development. »

We set ambitious goals, aiming to play a key role in the global energy transition while committing to ecological regeneration : in 2050, we aim to reach 25 GW of installed capacity, while committing to becoming a regenerative company.

Amarenco partner of the Agripower project

Agri-voltaic systems, which combine agriculture and photovoltaic energy, have evolved rapidly and are set to continue growing, especially in cross-border areas which are ideally located for renewable energy. Although these systems offer many benefits, such as decarbonising the economy and strengthening rural economies, a lack of knowledge is holding back their full potential. The AgriPower project aims to develop intelligent systems to optimise the efficiency of agrivoltaic installations by maintaining the focus on agricultural activity while integrating energy production. It includes detailed monitoring of agricultural and livestock variables and pilot trials, as well as support for producers and policy recommendations for the energy transition and agricultural viability.

The Agripower project, with which Amarenco is associated, is supported by :

Spain side

Instituto Vasco de Investigacion y Desarrollo Agrario (NEIKER)

Instituto de Investigacion y Tecnologia Agroalimentarias (IRTA)

Instituto Navarro de Tecnologias e Infraestructuras Agroalimentarias

Government of Navarre (GNAV)

Universidad del Pais Vasco (UPV)

France side

Pyrénées-Atlantiques Chamber of Agriculture (CDA64)

Dordogne Chamber of Agriculture (CDA24)

DERBI competitiveness cluster

Agri South-West Innovation

Amarenco Construction

INDARKI

AMARENCO will play a crucial role in analysing cross-border development opportunities in the photovoltaic sector, advising on pilot actions to optimise technological performance. In addition, the company will coordinate a personalised support system for producers interested in agrivoltaic systems, with a multidisciplinary approach involving agricultural producers, research bodies, technology companies and energy distributors.

Our vision is to be a pioneer and a changemaker for regeneration. To achieve this, we have developed a four-stage roadmap with key milestones in 2023, 2025, 2030 and 2050 to reach our regeneration ambition.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟮 𝗘𝗦𝗚 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁, an important step in our sustainability journey, which doesn’t just stop at reducing emissions, but aims to actively regenerate ecosystems by integrating regeneration into our day-to-day business as a way to create environmental and economic value.

Ana Dubois, Head of ESG end ECHO “Solar power has the opportunity to regenerate ecosystems by increasing carbon capture in the ground and integrating photovoltaic and ecological infrastructures. The key is cooperation among players in the project value chain and increasing the skills of internal teams in biodiversity issues

” Alain Desvigne, Chief Executive Officer “We see this report as a blueprint for the sustainable and regenerative future we are building together. As we prepare for the 2025 CSRD and the global environmental and social challenges that lie ahead, we don’t see ourselves as mere participants in the global transition to renewable energy; we are pioneers, setting the course for an industry-wide transformation. Our journey is ambitious, but it is also necessary.”

The report offers a tailored scoring system to evaluate the performance of agrisolar projects across agricultural, environmental, social, economic, and lifecycle quality criteria.

The report also explores real-world examples of Agrisolar projects in the EU, including data on crop yield, water usage, land efficiency, biodiversity enhancement, and socioeconomic benefits.

Eva Vandest, Head of Public Affairs, of Amarenco : “Today, Agri-PV is at the heart of public debate. We are proud that these guidelines are now being translated into several languages, starting with French. The report provides a set of highly practical guidelines which will be instrumental in developing the technology, as well as being relevant to the lives of farmers, local players, and solar project developers.”

At Amarenco, we are extremely proud to be a part of this with SolarPower Europe, in collaboration with the members of the Agrisolar Workstream and agricultural sector partners.

Inauguration of the Montpezat d’Agenais half-floating, half-landing power plant

Unique, emblematic, ecologically and economically significant: Amarenco inaugurated its very first hybrid solar power plant in France on September 21.

Strategically located in Montpezat d’Agenais in the Lot-et-Garonne department, this plant covers 5 hectares, 3 of which are floating, of the 8-hectare industrial site belonging to the Longhi Béton company.

Already operational for several months, it currently generates 6,170 MWh at a power of 4.8 MWp, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 2,500 people (excluding heating and hot water production).

The plant will save 250 tonnes of CO2 every year, the equivalent of 1,300 flights from Paris to New York.

More than 90 people were present on September 21, 2023 to witness this landmark event in our quest for a cleaner, more resilient energy future: journalists, executives, partners.
